Travel in Alcudia

By Road

The motorway extension and new road to Alcúdia are now both finished. The travel time from the airport to Alcúdia is approximately 45 minutes for a distance of 55-60 kilometres, depending on which part of Alcúdia you are headed for.

On leaving the airport, go up the ramp for Palma and then make sure to join the Via Cintura. This motorway splits in two, and you should follow the signs for Inca-Port d’Alcúdia. There is motorway as far as the Sa Pobla-Pollensa roundabout (about 10 kilometres from Alcudia) and then the new single-lane road starts; this is now wider than before.

Coming into Alcúdia there are two roundabouts, the first with a garden centre off to the left. Go straight on to the next, larger roundabout.

Here you turn left for the old town of Alcúdia and for Barcares, Mal Pas and Bonaire*.

Go straight on for the centre of Puerto Alcudia and Alcanada**.

Bear right just after this roundabout (signposted Can Picafort, Arta) for other parts of Puerto Alcúdia, Playa de Muro and Can Picafort***.

* Alcúdia, Barcares, Mal Pas and Bonaire.

Follow the road to the next roundabout and then go straight on for the old town itself and for the other places listed here. (If you are going to the Pollentia Club Resort or to the La Marina area, turn left at this roundabout, going towards Puerto Pollensa.)

For Barcares

As you come into the town, the road bends to the right, but you should go left in front of one of the town’s gate (Porta Mallorca); you will see a cafe to your left side just by this point. Follow the road by the walls. You will come to an island by another gate (Porta Roja) and in front of the bullring, go to the right side of this island and straight on. At the junction, turn left: this leads up to Barcares.

For Mal Pas and Bonaire

Follow the road where it bends right, and you then pass through a set of traffic lights and then come to a second set at a T-junction. Go right but immediately turn left for Mal Pas, Bonaire and La Victoria. Follow this road, which leads to Mal Pas and Bonaire.

** Puerto Alcúdia Centre and Alcanada.

Going straight on at the large roundabout you will then come to another roundabout (the Horse Roundabout) with a large sculpture. The second exit (Avenida Playa) leads to hotels such as Viva Tropic, Estrella de Mar and Coral de Mar. The third exit will take you to another smaller roundabout. Go straight on for Alcanada or go right for the centre of the town and hotels such as Piscis and Alcúdia.

*** Other parts of Puerto Alcúdia, Playa de Muro and Can Picafort.

Bearing right after the large roundabout, you are on a by-pass. Take the first exit left for Avenida Tucan and the Club Mac hotels (Saturn, Jupiter, Marte). Also for the likes of Delfin Azul, Garden Lago and Lagomonte.

Take the second exit left for Avenida Pedro Mas y Reus and Bellevue. Also for the likes of Boccaccio, El Lago, Orquidea Playa, Viva Sunrise, Astoria Playa, Sol Alcúdia and Sea Club.

Carry on as far as another roundabout (where the by-pass ends) and turn left for Playa de Muro and Can Picafort.

Follow the road to the lights at the junction with the main Carretera Arta and turn right. You are then in Playa de Muro. For Can Picafort, just carry on for about five kilometres.
